COLORS OF THE QUETZAL
The quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala and symbolizes freedom. It is a bird with a long tail and very delicate; green feathers like the undergrowth where it lives, with blue trim like the sea. His chest is red and gives the impression that he had it on the outside.
The body plumage is iridescent green, with reflections that vary from gold to blue-violet, with a deep crimson red breast and belly.
On November 33, 18, 1871, the Quetzal is a national symbol of the country, it was declared the National Bird of Guatemala, which is recognized for its long plumage and the beauty it represents.
The male's tail feathers measure up to 90 centimeters, while the female lacks them and a crest.
If the quetzals are, a genus of birds of the trogon family. It is a species in which the Mayan and Aztec civilizations was sacred, its plumage was also used to adorn the clothing of kings and priests.
